The Crime of Martin Sostre - Reprint
“Martin Sostre was one of the most important Black political prisoners of the 1960's. He was framed by the Buffalo (NYS) political establishment and police force after a racial rebellion against poverty, racism, and long years of police brutality.
While in prison, he was almost totally responsible for the winning of prisoner's democratic rights during the 1960's and 70's, including the right to read radical and Black literature, the right for prisoners to hold cultural and religious meetings, esp. for alternate unpopular religions faiths and political views; prisoners were allowed to receive almost all political books, except those proven to incitement to riot ; the right to a hearing and offering of proofs in disciplinary cases; in addition, they could not be held indefinitely in solitary confinement.
Law students or even Criminal Justice majors should read this book, if they can find it. it is valuable and will wake up the mind of anyone who is willing to think critically.”
